Celebrating Holi in 2013

I've always had a fascination with India but I truly fell in love on my first visit in 2013. What's not to love, from the rich traditions, the taste of the curries, the smell of incense, the beauty of those saris and the colourful cities.

When I think of India, colour always springs to mind. Each year Holi (the Indian Spring Festival of Colours)is celebrated on the night of the full moon on the beginning of Spring. It’s a celebration involving music, dancing and throwing powdered paint and coloured water in the air. It’s said that Holi started with Krishna, who was mischievous as a young boy and would throw coloured water on milkmaids as a practical joke.

I was luckily enough to take part in this festival two years ago in Chandigarh but unfortunately I came home a week early this trip and just missed it. It's an experience not to miss, in just a few minutes clothes, faces, streets are coloured and everything appears to be in a town of fairy tales, as if you were riding a rainbow.

Happy Holi Everyone.
